In October 1914 Otto Kratzer and Gene Hawes left Volland, Kansas, on their Indian bikes, and headed for California
They intended to visit the World Fair in San Francisco and then go on to San Diego to take in the exposition there. However, when they reached Albuquerque, they became uncertain about the availability of gasoline for the rest of their journey.
Undaunted, they put their bikes on the train going east to Volland, and promptly boarded a train continuing west to California.
In the spirit of that adventure
present a Dice Run from Pioneer Bluffs to The Volland Store
All proceeds benefit the three Flint Hills nonprofit organizations

9 am Registration at Pioneer Bluffs, historic ranch north of Matfield Green on K-177
11 am Final departure; travel north at your own pace with stops to roll the dice at:
Symphony in the Flint Hills Art Gallery, Cottonwood Falls
Historic Hays House Restaurant, Council Grove
3:30 pm (or before) Arrival at The Volland Store, off Old K-10, north of Alta Vista
(Note: there is one block of gravel from Old K-10 to The Volland Store, the only gravel on the route)
The Volland Store is featuring a Vintage Motorcycle Exhibit and “Motorcycles on the Lawn” exhibit
4 pm Prizes will be awarded, including –
Weekend stay in the Loft at The Volland Store, 2 tickets to Symphony in the Flint Hills – and more!
