Tom Parish, the photographer noted for his images of arched-roof cellars, will lead the Photographers Cellar Tour. Tom’s work was exhibited at The Volland Store gallery in the Spring of 2016 and was the inspiration for the cellar tours at Volland.
This tour is designed to visit fewer cellars and provide more time at each stop for exploration and photography. You will caravan in your own car to the tour stops, or you may arrange carpools when you arrive. This will allow you to keep your photo equipment in your car without the necessity to transfer it to a bus.
The tour will take you on private property. You will see the cellars first hand and hear about their unique history. You are welcome to bring a flashlight and/or lighting equipment for better viewing in the caves. We anticipate the tour to take up to 4 hours, lasting until around 5 pm.
All skill levels are welcome.
The tour will start at 1:00pm from The Volland Store. Dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
November is one of the best times to photograph in the Flint Hills.
