M.T. Liggett was an artist in a league of his own. Across hundreds of totems the artist expressed personal stories, admired classical literature, and criticized high-profile figures.
Joshua Dubois’ 2022 film,
It Started with a Horse provides a glimpse into Liggett’s persona and how Mullinville received the artist’s work. Filmed over 20 years, the film shows Liggett at work and shares interviews with the artist, his friends and detractors. This biography of M.T. Liggett helps expand and provide context for eight of his sculptures which now reside at Volland, thanks to the generous gift from the Kohler Foundation.
