AILEEN JUNE WANG is a curator at the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art and organized the exhibition “Water Stories by Lynn Benson,” currently on display until May 26. The exhibit is intended to be in dialogue with The Volland Store’s “River Compositions by Lynn Benson”
Aileen worked with Benson on the Beach Museum’s 2018 Gift Print project, an annual print commission established in 1934 to honor a recognized Kansas artist. The exhibition, programming, and gift print program at the Beach Museum this spring, along with the partner exhibitions and programs at The Volland Store, highlight issues surrounding water use and ethics, a topic dear to Lynn Benson’s heart.
Aileen received her MA and PhD in art history from Rutgers University, the State University of New Jersey. She focuses on contemporary art, especially when it intersects with graffiti and street art, East Asian cultures and traditions, and digital media and Web technology. She has worked in both the art business and academic fields, including at Christie’s New York, Pennsylvania State University, and Long Island University Post.
Benson’s large-scale work “River Compositions” opens May 5 and continues through July 15, 2018.
