Wrenn and her husband, Arturo, and their son, Leo, are new to the Volland area. They purchased the old Heideman place in 2014 and have truly fallen in love with Wabaunsee County and its history.
Wrenn and Arturo value the history that their home holds as well, and they are restoring it bit by bit.
Wrenn comes to the Volland area from Henderson, Texas. She was raised in the Piney Woods of East Texas, where she helped her dad with their small commercial cow-calf herd. She graduated high school and took a livestock judging scholarship at a small community college in Big Spring, Texas. This led her to Texas Tech University where she judged livestock and met Arturo. Education also brought Arturo and Wrenn to Kansas where Arturo received his PhD in animal science from Kansas State University.
Wrenn and her husband are self-employed. Wrenn is a wedding and family photographer and owns Wrenn Bird Photography. Arturo is a ruminant nutritionist and owns and operates Pacheco Cattle Services.
“Arturo and I first saw the store while driving around exploring our new surroundings,” Wrenn said “and even before we knew what Patty envisioned for the store, we both thought what a grand old building it was. We started daydreaming of the possibilities it held and are excited to see some of our dreaming truly take shape with Wrenn’s role at The Volland Store will be coordinating weddings and other non-local events such as meetings and retreats. She will also be available to open and close The Store and to assist patrons.
